Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her initial appearances on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford is a Tony Award winner actor has worked with a variety of acclaimed actors and directors for stage productions and on television. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as it becomes a Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the national crisis that swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment hearings in over 100 years. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Additional Broadway performances include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
